The Customer’s Challenge:
When the Department of Transportation for a major city in the United States set out to increase ridership, they learned that their signage needed much improvement. The existing aluminum signs were lost in the street clutter and many were stolen for their scrap value.
Universal Plastics’ Solution:
Universal Plastics worked in cooperation with the city’s personnel to develop a thermoformed plastic sign system which is both colorful and durable. The modular plastic signs allow for easy route changes and offer greatly improved visibility & visual appeal over the aluminum version.
The End Result:
The product we developed was such a success that the city has now converted all 5 of their boroughs to our new thermoformed signage. Best of all, the Department of Transportation has reduced maintenance costs by over 90% due to our product’s increased resistance to knock-down damage.
